How Are
Girls Doing?
Watch for Program Effectiveness Surveys!
From late
March through May, 2008, girls and troop leaders from
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio will report on how girls are
growing and developing during their time in Girl
Scouting.
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio will be administering its
first program effectiveness study to determine how girls
are doing in western Ohio. Random samples of girls in
grades 4-12 and troop leaders in all age levels will be
contacted by U.S. mail, e-mail and phone to participate
in the council-wide study. In addition, a cross-section
of Brownie Girl Scout troops will also participate.
Parents of selected members will be notified of their
daughter’s selection. Survey findings are confidential
and will be reported in summary fashion. Findings will
be used to guide adult training, communication, and
other services offered to support Girl Scout program
delivery.
Surveys focus on the Girl Scout program outcomes:
Discover, Connect, Take Action. Sample survey items
include the following:
-
Girls
try to do new things, even if they are hard to do.
-
Girls
work well together as a team.
-
Girls
do community service projects.
Girls
and adults will report on Girl Scout program
activities and opportunities that make progress
toward the council’s goals, as follows:
-
Girls
will understand themselves & their values.
-
Girls
will use their knowledge & skills to explore the
world.
-
Girls
will care about, inspire & team with others locally
& globally.
-
Girls
will act to make the world a better place.
If you or
someone you know are contacted to participate, please
respond promptly. Increased participation helps to
increase our confidence in survey findings. If you have
questions about the survey, please contact the research,
development & evaluation director at 1-800-537-6241 or
