Thank you for the opportunity to share information on how you can become a Girl Scout volunteer. Whether you have an hour or two once a week or even just a couple of times a year we would like you to become a part of Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.

Follow these simple steps to becoming a volunteer!

Step 1:

Complete the volunteer application process.

  • Complete the Volunteer Application. This includes providing the names and addresses of four non-related individuals on the application who can verify your qualifications for becoming a Girl Scout volunteer. References from individuals familiar with any past volunteer experience(s) are highly recommended. Inform your references that you have selected them and that they soon will receive a confidential reference form from us. Please encourage your references to respond as quickly as possible.

  • Complete the Criminal Background Check form. Password: d0t4pwn (Password must be entered exactly as you see it, it is case sensitive).
Further information about this process can be found here. If you have already completed this background check - do not do it again.

  • If your application is approved, you will receive an official letter of appointment to the position for which you applied. Until appointed, volunteers should not serve in the position for which they applied.  For example, a volunteer applying as a troop leader may not begin meeting with her troop as the leader, until appointed to the position.

There shall be no discrimination against an otherwise qualified adult volunteer by reason of disability, age, race, color, ethnicity, sex, creed, national origin, citizenship, or socio-economic status.

Step 2: Register as a Girl Scout member. Please contact your neighborhood volunteer or your regional office for assistance with registration. All appointed volunteers must become Girl Scout members and agree to accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Step 3: Complete the required training courses. Although new Girl Scout volunteers have six months to complete required training, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio recommends the following training sequence to help our volunteers best prepare themselves for their work with girls.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
