COURSE DESCRIPTION

Camping is a favorite activity and tradition in Girl Scouts. It is important that an adult has the skills necessary to make your troop camping experience safe, fun, and educational. This course will certify participants to take girls camping either in a lodge or tent. You will learn how to involve girls in the planning process, preparation of personal and troop equipment, basic outdoor skill development, outdoor cooking, safety procedures, ecology, night time activities, ceremonies, and camp fire program activities. Camping Certification Training is required for at least one adult camping with a troop or group of girls.

All camping certification courses have a fee of $15 except the Cabin Fever offered by Maumee Valley, which includes the troop ($27/person).

AUDIENCE

Troop leaders, co-leaders and other registered adults who are participating in a troop out-of-doors experience.  Only one adult per troop is required to complete this training, however we encourage all adult volunteers working in the out-of-doors to attend.
