Girl Scout Journeys develop leadership skills in girls through a series of imaginative lessons and exciting activities that incorporate elements of community service. Journeys are designed in a multi-session framework, and are fully customizable by girls and volunteers. Outings, celebrations, and explorations can be added to suit the journey’s theme and the girls’ interests. Journeys can be stretched over a Girl Scout year or done over the course of a few weeks or months. While journeys offer plenty of choices for girls, the companion How-To adult guides will provide the “roadmap” volunteers want. Girl Scout Journeys are the innovative way to keep the girls in your troop interested as they learn the ins and outs of leadership.

Transforming Leadership:
Focusing on Outcomes of the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience
By Girl Scouts of the USA. (New York, N.Y.: Girl Scouts of the USA, 2008). 68 pp.

Girls today believe that a leader is defined not only by the qualities and skills one has, but also by how those qualities and skills are used to make a difference in the world. In their own words, they want to be the type of leader who "stands up for his or her beliefs and values," and "tries to change the world for the better." Leadership is "knowing what you believe and putting it into action." Interested in learning more? Order your copy today!
