Cookie Sale Evaluation | Cookie Booth Evaluation

We’re pleased to welcome our new baker, Little Brownie Bakers® and excited to be among the first councils to pilot a project known as Super Six.

Girls will be offering a premium selection of the six best-selling Girl Scout Cookies of all time. These nationwide bestsellers may be new to local customers. However, these brand-name cookies outsell all other varieties in most of the country. In just a few bites, you’ll come to prefer:

•  Little Brownie’s Thin Mints — made with natural oil of peppermint

•  Original  Samoas® — so scrumptious they often outsell even Thin Mints

•  Tagalongs® — made with peanut butter created by the same folks that make what’s in Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

•  Trefoils — delicate-tasting shortbread that is simple and satisfying

•  Do-si-dos® — crisp, delicious and baked with baby rolled oats

•  Lemon Chalet Cremes™ — delectable lemon sandwich cookies that honor Our Chalet in Switzerland

As you know, in recent years we have offered customers eight cookie varieties. However, nearly all cookie customers say one of these six is their favorite cookie. By focusing our inventory on America’s most beloved cookie favorites and streamlining delivery, we will make everything easier for girls and volunteers. Plus, you avoid leftover packages of varieties that appeal to more limited audiences.

The research behind this pilot program is significant. Research from Little Brownie Bakers® shows that the five core cookie varieties (Thin Mints, Samoas®, Tagalongs®, Trefoils and Do-si-dos®) appeal to the vast majority of customers (more than 80 percent). Each additional cookie variety is intended to reach new customers who would not otherwise make a purchase from a girl. However, we have found that the additional varieties provide only a minimal lift in the sale and create a disproportionate amount of additional expense and effort. You may have noticed this trend yourself.

We still have the opportunity to provide customers with one cookie variety in addition to the five bestsellers, and based on our customers’ preferences, our council has selected Lemon Chalet Cremes™.

Girls will be eager to learn about the new cookies. In the Cookie Activity Guides provided by Little Brownie Bakers®, you’ll find games and activities that make learning fun for every age level. Each troop leader will be receiving the appropriate age level Cookie Activity Guide either this month or next month in their roundtable materials. Getting them early will allow troops ample time to do a couple of these really fun and exciting cookie activities!

We hope you agree that Super Six is certain to lead to a super experience for girls and an easier season for our busy volunteers. We look forward to hearing your feedback after your experience. Please accept our sincere thanks for all you do to help girls during Cookie Season and all year long.

Also, to help build excitement and also educate girls about the sale, your regional Girl Scout Center will be offering Rally to Go kits that service units can check out and use when planning a cookie rally.  These kits will contain information to help with the planning and running of a rally, as well as activities that will help the girls learn goal setting, people skills, decision making, business ethics, and money management.  These kits will make planning and holding a cookie rally a breeze.  Statistics show that girls who participate in cookie focused rallies in their communities have an increase in their per girl average of over 18 packages.  More information on Rally to Go kits will be available through e-news and the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio website in the coming months. *Please note that there will not be council sponsored cookie rallies this year.

Be sure to sign up for the product sale e-news (can be done at www.girlscoutsofwesternohio.org) and keep checking the council website for more updates.
