Welcome to the 2008 Girl Scout Cookie Sale!

The theme for the 2007-2008 Cookie Campaign is “Ready, Set, Go!”  It challenges girls to set goals, make decisions, learn about themselves, and exceed expectations by providing them with tools needed through a girl-focused program.

The Girl Scout Cookie Sale for our council starts on Friday, January 11, 2008.  Girls are on their honor not to sell before January 11th.  Girls are encouraged to uphold the Girl Scout Promise and Law at all times throughout the cookie sale.  This includes displaying honesty and fairness in when and how they sell their cookies to their customers, show politeness to customers (even those that opt to not purchase Girl Scout Cookies), and work together as a team to ensure that each girl in the troop has a positive and success cookie sale experience.

It’s Never Too Late to Start Selling Cookies - Troop Cookie Manager Training

There have been a lot of exciting changes taking place with the realignment of our new council, and the 2008 Girl Scout Cookie Sale is no different.  This year we are hosting council-wide training sessions for all troop cookie managers.  Our goal for these council-wide training sessions is to offer consistent messaging across regional and service unit lines and to make attending training easier on you and your family.

If your troop cookie manager has not attended training, or if you are a newly registered troop, please contact your regional Girl Scout Center as soon as possible to learn about available cookie training sessions in your area.

Online Council Sponsored Cookie Booth Sign-Up

http://cookiebooth.girlscoutsofwesternohio.org

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2008, troops will be able to sign up for additional cookie booths in “real time.”  This means that you will have access to all of the remaining council sponsored cookie booths via the website, and once a cookie booth is selected by a troop it is automatically removed as a possible choice.  This also means that if a troop cancels a cookie booth at any time throughout the sale, it will immediately become available for others.

Non-Council Sponsored Cookie Booth Locations

If your troop wishes to participate in a cookie booth at a location that is not a council-sponsored cookie booth (see regional link above for a list of council sponsored cookie booth locations), you may do so by following the Non-Council Sponsored Cookie Booth guidelines found on page 22 in your Cookie Book 2008 Remember- Under no circumstances are troops to contact any of the businesses found on the list of council sponsored cookie booths for additional cookie booth days or times.

Planning Your Cookie Sale- How Many Cookies Should I Order for Cookie Booths?

Predicting how many boxes of cookies will sell at any given cookie booth is not an exact science.  There are many variables that go into the success of a cookie booth: location, day of the week, girl preparation and attitude, weather, time of day, and availability of varieties- just to name a few.  Any one of these variables can dramatically impact the success of your cookie booth, but the following information may be helpful to keep in mind.

*        Experienced troops tell us that a “good” cookie booth can sell 25-30 boxes per hour, and a “great” booth moves up to 60 boxes per hour.

*        While some cookie varieties prove to be more popular in certain communities than in others, Thin Mints are the most commonly requested cookie across the nation.

*        To best gauge the variety preferences in your community, use the girls’ order cards as an indicator of what cookie variety is the most popular and what is the least popular to help you order your additional cases.

You will want to be sure to order some of your cookie booth cookies at the time of your initial order (due January 31st) so your troop has enough cookies to get you through your first few cookie booths.  If you need more cookies at any time throughout the sale, please come to a cookie cupboard (see pages 26-27 in your Cookie Book 2008).

Cookie Works - www.abccookieworks.com

Cookie Works is the new online cookie sale software that will be used to help run this year’s cookie sale.  Troops will place initial cookie orders, schedule trailer drops, and place recognition orders in Cookie Works’ easy-to-use format.  Troops will receive information regarding Cookie Works at cookie training.  Troops may begin accessing Cookie Works as soon as they have attended cookie training and have received their login name and password from their Service Unit Cookie Consultant.
