Chair
Nancy
C. Dawes served on the Council Realignment
Committee and was immediate Past Chair of the Board of
Directors of Girl Scouts - Great Rivers Council. She has
been involved in Girl Scouting for the past 15 years.
During her Girl Scout tenure, Nancy has served as a
troop leader for all age levels, as well as co-service
unit manager. She served as a delegate to the past three
National Council Meetings and received the Thanks Badge
in 2006. Prior to her presidency, she was involved in
multiple board task groups, including the 2001 Strategic
Planning Task Group and Delegate Meeting Task Group.
Nancy is a Research Fellow – Vic Mills Society at
Proctor & Gamble and helped develop several successful
Olay skin care initiatives. Nancy earned a Bachelor’s
degree in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State
University and serves on the Industrial Advisory Board
for the Department of Chemical Engineering. Nancy was
honored by the College of Engineering in 1998 with the Texnikoi Outstanding Alumna Award.

Chair
Margaret
G. Beck, Attorney, was President of the Girl Scouts
of Maumee Valley Council Board of Directors and an
attorney at Brady Coyle & Schmidt, LLD. She has served
as a member of the Girl Scouts of Maumee Valley Council
Board of Directors for seven years. She is very involved
in the council realignment process and has dedicated
many hours attending meetings to ensure a smooth
transition for both staff and volunteers. Margaret also
served as Chair of the Western Ohio Council selection
committee to interview and appoint a CEO for the new
council. She generously volunteers her time and
financial assistance for the Green on the Greens Golf
Tournament, the Girl Scout Gala, and Camp Creepy.
Margaret is also a strong supporter of Girl Scouts of
Maumee Valley Council’s Camp CEO Leadership Program.
Thanks in part to her efforts, the council is able to
continue to educate girls and fulfill the Girl Scout
mission. Margaret was a girl member from age 7-17 and
had the experience of visiting two of the world centers
– National Center West and Our Chalet. As a mother
herself, she made the decision to instill that same
positive Girl Scout experience in her own two daughters
by being their troop leader, advisor, and mentor.

Chair
Debbie
M. Watts was the immediate Past Chair of the Board of
Directors for Girl Scouts of Buckeye Trails Council.
Debbie has been an active board member, troop leader,
and has served on numerous committees including the
Council Performance Assessment, Fund Development,
Executive Board, Finance, and WINGS. Debbie has served
as a National Council Delegate, has been chosen to serve
on a National Board committee, and other functions too
numerous to name. She has advocated for government
funding, met with State and Federal legislators and made
sure that the world knows about Girl Scouts. After her
term as Board Chair expired, Debbie offered her
continued assistance with the Girl Scouts of the USA
realignment and new core business strategies
implementation. Most recently, Debbie has served as
Co-Chair of the Council Realignment Committee. Debbie
has been with NCR Corporation for 16 years. She
currently is Chief Counsel of the Systemedia Division.
In this role, she manages several Contract Managers and
provides legal support to the entire Systemedia
Leadership Team. During her tenure at NCR, Debbie has
supported various functions, including marketing, sales,
development and production. Although her experience at
NCR has been broad, Debbie is most experienced with
complex contract negotiations. Prior to attending law
school, Debbie had a professional career as an Engineer.
She held internship positions at Wright Patterson Air
Force Base and General Motors. She later practiced
Engineering at Hobart Corporation in Troy, Ohio for six
years. Debbie is a native Daytonian and actively
involved in the Dayton community. She is currently the
Chair of the Board of the Dayton and Montgomery County
Convention and Visitors Bureau and serves on the Boards
of the Dayton Children’s Medical Center and Dayton
Contemporary Dance Company. Debbie graduated with a
degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Cincinnati in 1979 and a Juris Doctor Degree from The
Ohio State University in 1991.
Secretary
Sharon
L. Smith was President of the Board of Directors of
Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge. Sharon has been on the
board of directors for over 10 years and has served on
the Council Realignment Committee for Girl Scouts of
Western Ohio. She is the mother of three and served as a
Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop and as an
assistant leader for her son’s Cub Scout troop. She is
retired from BP Chemicals as a specialist in the
transportation of nitrogen products and hazardous
materials. Sharon is active in many community programs
that promote youth and their positive development. She
has considerable experience with the website for dogsled
racing in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and has actually
participated in dog sledding. In addition, Sharon has
interested dog sled mushers from Ohio to Alaska with the
website. Her volunteer and professional experience
includes being Secretary of the Board for St. Matthew’s
Lutheran Church for two years.

Jody Wainscott is Vice President and Manager of
Research and Development for The Cincinnati Insurance
Companies. Jody has served as a Trustee of the
Cincinnati Better Business Bureau, Inc., on the
Executive Committee of Prevent Blindness Ohio and is the
immediate past Chair of its Southwest Ohio Chapter
Executive Council. Jody is a charter member of the
Greater Cincinnati Women’s Chamber of Commerce, is a
past member of the Board of Directors of the American
Nuclear Insurers and the Advisory Council for the United
States Aircraft Insurance Group. She is a past director
and Board member of the Greater Cincinnati Women’s
Network and Leading Women (a Greater Cincinnati
non-profit association) and, in 1995, Jody was a Leading
Women honoree. Jody was
Treasurer on the Girl Scouts - Great Rivers Council
Board of Directors, was a member of the financial audit
committee, has participated on other tasks groups and
has served as Chair of the council’s Nominating
Committee (2001 & 2002). She has held two terms as a
member-at-large on the board of Girl Scouts – Great
Rivers Council. Her preparation for service, teamwork,
and leadership included experiences as a Brownie,
Junior, and Cadette Girl Scout.

Dale A. Goldberg
was Chair of Girl Scouts of Buckeye Trails, after
serving as First Vice Chair, member-at-large, and Chair
of the Nominating Committee. Dale was a girl member in
Seal of Ohio Girl Scout Council in Columbus, Ohio. Dale
is the Executive Assistant United States Attorney for
the Southern District of Ohio, and is responsible for
supervising all of the civil litigation, as well as
advising on all ethical and professional responsibility
issues in the district’s offices in Columbus, Dayton,
and Cincinnati. She earned her bachelor’s degree at
Sarah Lawrence College and her law degree at the
University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
She has taught as an Adjunct Professor at the University
of Dayton School of Law and served as the Chair of the
Dayton Bar Association’s Diversity Issues Committee in
2000-2001. Dale is also an active member and past
Trustee of the American Bankruptcy Law Forum.
Marjorie A. Houck
served on the Board of Directors for Girl
Scouts of Buckeye Trails Council. Additionally, she
currently serves as the Chair person for the Dayton
North Catholic Committee of Girl Scouts for the
Archdiocese of Cincinnati. She is a native of Dayton
Ohio graduating from Centerville High School and the
Dayton School of Practical Nursing. She has been married
38 years to Ron and they have 2 married children and 3
grandsons. Margie has a wide background in Girl Scouting
including being a Girl Scout as a child and Girl Scout
Leader for 13 years. She and her daughter, Rachael, were
Delegates to the National Convention in Texas and Margie
was also a Delegate to the National Convention in
California. Margie has served in numerous Team positions
from Treasurer to Service Unit Chair over the past 24
years. She has sat on many committees at Buckeye Trails
and is currently a Trainer. Outside of Girl Scouts,
Margie currently serves as the President of the Madonna
Guild at Incarnation Church. She was a Board member for
Archbishop Alter High School for 6 years and volunteers
at St. Leonards doing things like raising butterflies
with the residents. Margie worked at Miami Valley
Hospital and managed several doctors’ offices. At the
present time she works at St Leonards, a nursing home
facility, in their Security Department, and is the
office manager for the family business Houck Remodeling.
Karen Huelsman was on the board of
Girl Scouts Buckeye Trails. She has been past chair and
committee member for Pampered Camper and involved in
Girl Scouting for over 40 years. She is a past chair of
YMCA board, and Fairborn Chamber of Commerce
Ambassadors, Washington State Master Food Preservers,
current member of Greene County Master Gardeners and
long time community volunteer. Karen is President of the Huelsman Agency, Inc. and is a licensed insurance agent
serving Ohio’s Credit Union industry. She also is a
licensed Real Estate Agent and Auctioneer with a Benefit
Auctioneer Certification and has associations with
several professional organizations.
Catherine Ingram
was a member-at-large on the Girl Scouts – Great
Rivers Council board of directors. Prior to serving in
this capacity, she has been First Vice President of the
board and a National Council Delegate, as well as
successfully chairing the past three Council Performance
Assessment task groups. Catherine has been a member of
the Cincinnati Public School’s Board of Education since
1993 and has recently served as President of the Ohio
School Board Association. Catherine is currently
teaching in the College of Education at Northern
Kentucky University. Her work experience also includes
over 20 years experience with Cinergy and as the
Executive Director of the Cincinnati Minority Business
Enterprise Mentoring Program. Catherine has a Master’s
degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s
degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Wijdan Jreisat was a member-at-large on the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts
– Great Rivers Council, Inc. She served on the CEO
performance review task group this past year and has
participated in several other task groups. Wijdan is a
resident of Newport, Kentucky and is a summa cum laude
graduate of Centre College, in Danville, Kentucky, where
she double majored in English and History. She then
obtained her law degree from the University Of Virginia
School Of Law. Wijdan is currently a shareholder of the
law firm of Katz, Teller, Brant & Hild in Cincinnati.
Her practice is concentrated in domestic relations, and
employment advising litigation. Wijdan’s mother was
active in the Girl Scouts in her native land of Jordan.
Susan Gantz Matz is the Research Manager for
Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, and Quality
Assurance at Lyondell Chemical Company. She earned a BS
in Chemistry from Purdue University and MS and Ph.D. in
Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. Sue is
active in Lyondell’s education outreach initiatives,
forming partnerships with Miami University, M2SE, and
various schools in the Cincinnati area. She served as an
industrial mentor for Miami University’s Partners in
Terrific Science program for 6 years. She has
participated on the Ohio Chemical and Technology
Council’s education committee since 1996, serving as
co-chair from 1998 to the present. She also currently
serves on the technical advisory board on Cincinnati
State Technical College, the Industrial Advisory Board
at the U. of Cincinnati, OSCI 7-10 advisory board, and
the chemistry technology advisory council at Miami
University. Sue has been active in Girl Scouts for over
25 years. She was a girl member, assisted with a Girl
Scout troop while in college, and was a troop leader for
twelve years and held various service unit positions.
Sue served three terms on the Girl Scouts –
Great Rivers Council board of directors and has
participated on several task groups, including as Chair
of the Nominating Committee.
Cheryl Tyler-Folsom iwas a member of the
Girl Scouts of Maumee Valley Council Board of Directors,
for one year. Prior to serving on the Girl
Scouts of Maumee Valley Council Board she was on the
Nominating Committee from 2003 - 2006. Cheryl has worked
for AFSCME Ohio Council 8 as a Staff Representative for
18 years. Cheryl was a Girl Scout in Toledo for 10 years
and has volunteered for the last two years for the Green
on the Greens Golf Tournament at the Celebrity Hole with
the Channel 11 Celebrities. Cheryl is actively involved
in the community serving on many community boards,
including the YMCA of Greater Toledo and the Board of
Community Relations. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in
Education from The Ohio State University.
Jan M. von der Embse was a member of the
Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge.
Jan is the mother of five and has served on various
volunteer organizations including, but not limited to,
the Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge, United Way Board of
Putnam County, the Drug and Advisory Board of Putnam
County, and a four term member of the Ottawa-Glandorf
School Board. Jan graduated from the University of
Bowling Green with a BA in Accounting and received a
Masters of Arts from the University of Findlay. Jan has
been in Banking for the past 23 years and is currently
the Vice President and Investment Specialist with the
Huntington Investment Company.
Christi M. West was First Vice President of the
Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge.
She has served in many Girl Scout volunteer positions
including troop leader, Service Unit Chair, Service Unit
Cookie Chair and managing the Findlay Cookie Cupboard.
Most recently, Christi has served on the Council
Realignment Committee. For the Council, Chrisit is a
GSUSA Master Trainer and wrote much of the curriculum
for leadership training, chaired several Board
committees, the Nominating Committee and the Council
Performance Assessment Task Group, and served as a
National Council Delegate. She is a Lifetime member of
Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Christi has also served her
community by chairing and participating as a member of
several task groups, United Way committees, Findlay
Service League, Volunteer Center Action Group, Hancock
Youth Leadership Board Treasurer and is a graduate of
the Hancock Leadership program. Christi resides in
Findlay and is employed as the Staff Coordinator with
Home Instead Senior Care.

Kimberly S. Amrine
has served two terms as a member-at-large of the Board
of Directors of Girl Scouts - Great Rivers Council. She
has also served on the board’s Direct Inspection Task
Group. Kim is a partner at Frost Brown Todd, LLC and
also serves as the firm’s Director of Diversity. She
received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern
University and a J.D. from George Washington University.
Kim has been named a YWCA Rising Star and has two
daughters involved in Girl Scouts.
Judith Ann Barnard was a member of the
Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Maumee Valley
Council. She has served as the past Chair and committee
member of the Nominating Committee, and past Chair of
the Take your Daughter to Work Day. Judy has been
involved in Girl Scouts as a girl or adult member for 25
years. She is a Past President of the Junior League of
Toledo, Inc., past graduate and Board member of the
Leadership Toledo program and, Past Board member of the
Citizens for Effective Government Committee. Judy has
received the Mary Hartman award from the Junior League
of Toledo, Inc., and Women of the Year award from the
St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary. Judy is
currently the Chair of the Parent Community Partnership
Committee, a member of the State of Ohio, Parents for
the 21st Century Committee, and Board member of the
Toledo Cultural Arts Committee for the Valentine
Theatre. Judy is an RN and is employed by St. Vincent
Mercy Medical Center.
Jerry Brose has been an adult volunteer for 36
years having served on various committees and task
forces, and worn many hats as a volunteer. She helped
start the first Daisy Girl Scout Troop in Girl Scouts of
Appleseed Ridge. Jerry was on the Board of
Directors of Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge for 15
years. She graduated from Columbus Business University
as a Private Secretary with accounting studies. She
worked at The Ohio State University Print Shop as a
bookkeeper and The Ohio State University Libraries as
secretary to the Personnel Officer, as well as at a
doctor’s office as receptionist. Jerry has been a member
of the Hardin County Tourist Bureau and Ohio Historic
West. She has volunteered several years in the local
school, served as an Ohio Reads volunteer for twoyears,
and was the Junior Achievement facilitator at the school
for four years. Jerry has two children and two
grandchildren. She has been in the antique business for
35 years and has been the owner/manager of an antique
mall for 13 years.
Ellen Iobst is the Senior Vice President of
Manufacturing and Technology for the Sunny Delight
Beverages Co. As one of the founding managers of Sunny
Delight and the most senior woman, Ellen has played a
major role in every facet of the start-up and turnaround
of the business. She is directly responsible for
approximately 450 employees located in the United States
and Europe and has global responsibility for all
purchasing, manufacturing, logistics, quality and
engineering efforts. In addition, Ellen serves on the
company’s global leadership team of 6 people. Prior to
her experience at Sunny Delight, Ellen worked for
Procter and Gamble for 23 years. Twenty of those years
were spent in Manufacturing, where she held a number of
management positions in both manufacturing and technical
roles, including Plant Manager. During that time, she
worked in a wide range of technologies from disposable
diaper making, coffee manufacturing, and papermaking to
juice drink manufacturing at 6 different locations. Her
last three years at P&G were spent in Supply Chain
roles, including Sunny Delight North America and Global
Pringles. Ellen served as a Girl Scout leader from 1997
to 2006 and has experience in three different councils.
She has been recognized as an Outstanding Girl Scout
Volunteer twice during that time. In 2006, Ellen was
appointed to a member-at-large position on the Girl
Scouts - Great Rivers Council Board of Directors. She
also served on the “Getting to Yes” Communications
Realignment Subcommittee. While in Texas, Ellen was
active with the League of Women Voters, serving as
Financial Chair and First Vice President.
Mary Ann Knoop was Secretary of the Girl Scouts –
Great Rivers Council Board of Directors. Prior to this
position, Mary Ann served as member-at-large and First
Vice President. She has taken on many roles within the
council, including serving as Chair of the council’s
Early Adolescent Task Group, National Council Delegate,
member of the Council Performance Assessment, and on a
variety of other task groups. Mary Ann has over 30 years
of Girl Scout experience (11 as a girl member), serving
as a troop leader, service team member, and area
association chair. Mary Ann is a secondary school
teacher in the Cincinnati Public Schools and is a member
of the district social studies curriculum council. Mary
Ann has a Bachelor’s degree from Miami University and a
Master’s degree from Wright State University. As a
teacher in an urban school, Mary Ann has first-hand
experience in working with early adolescent girls.
Kathryn K. McMullen was Chair of the Board of
Directors of Girl Scouts – Great Rivers Council and
served on the Council Realignment Committee. Prior to
her Chair position, Kathy served two terms as a
member-at-large in which she served on the board’s Fund
Development Task Group and Direct Inspection Task Group.
In addition to her work with the Girl Scouts, Kathy
serves on the Board of Directors of Cincinnati Works, a
Cincinnati-based organization whose mission is to
eliminate poverty in the community. Kathy has 20 years
of experience in various aspects of human resources
management and currently works in human resources for
Macy’s Corporate Services. Kathy holds a bachelor’s
degree in Political Science from the University of
Louisville and a Master’s degree in Business
Administration from the University of Kentucky. She has
provided business and human resources consulting
services on a volunteer basis to the Cincinnati Public
Schools for benefits programs redesign and hiring
decisions.
Carol S. Sanders has served on the Board of
Directors of Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge for several
years and has worked on the Property and Finance
Committee, as well as aiding on some special projects.
She has served as Girl Scout assistant leader, Cookie
Chair, and also, as a Cub Scout assistant. She and her
husband raised a son and two daughters, and now have six
grandchildren, all living in Ohio. She graduated from
The Ohio State University and has additional post
graduate work in education, psychology and English.
Following her teaching experience, she has been employed
for 20 years by USDA-Farm Service Agency as a Program
Technician in conservation and farm programs. Carol has
served in various leadership roles with her church, AAUW,
YWCA, 4-H and investment club, as well as working on
community activities that support education and youth.
While in Van Wert, Carol has done some consulting work
with writing grants for the school districts. She and
her husband reside on a small farm in Van Wert.

Kathy Schroder is a licensed social worker for
Putnam County Educational Service Center. She holds
OCPSI certification in the State of Ohio. She and her
husband, Terry, live in Ottawa and have three children.
She holds a BSSW degree from The Ohio State University,
Columbus. She has served as a board member of the Girl
Scouts of Appleseed Ridge for several years in addition
to being a troop leader. Her community involvement
includes serving as Sunday School Teacher and with
School Boosters, Parish Council, Pre-marriage Group
Leader, Mothers Club, Task Force for Youth coordinator
for Ottawa, Ohio Drug Free Schools Advisory Group, and
Ohio Safe Communities Advisory Board.
Sheryl Head is a Corporate Responsibility Officer
for the Community Mercy Health Partners. Her
affiliations include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority;
American Association of University Women; Board Member,
Cancer Association of Champaign County; Urbana
University Women’s Association; Consortium of
Independent Colleges Spousal Task Force.

Dave Kylander is employed by Messer Construction
Co. as a Business Development Leader for the Dayton,
Ohio region. He grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and
attended Purdue University, where he played on the
hockey team and earned a degree in engineering. Dave has
taught classes at Cincinnati State and volunteered with
Boy Scouts. As a father of a Girl Scout, Dave has been
active with his daughter’s troop and has served on the
Girl Scouts – Great Rivers Council’s property committee.
His most recent project has been to serve as Co-Chair of
the current camp building committee, where he has
actively worked to ensure the success of the new lodge
at Camp Butterworth. Dave has one daughter and three
stepdaughters and is committed to the issues that are
important for girls and women.
Sharon Schnell was a member of the Board
of Directors of Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge. Sharon
graduated from The Ohio State University as a pharmacist
and has been in practice for 30 years. She has been
employed as a hospital pharmacist at Joint Township
District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, Ohio, for the
past 27 years. She and her husband live in New Bremen,
Ohio, and are the parents of two children, with their
daughter continuing into adult Girl Scouts. Sharon was a
troop leader for 12 years, has been a member of the Girl
Scouts at the Ohio State Fair Committee for 8 years, and
has been involved in numerous other church and community
youth and adult organizations. She has received several
recognitions in Girl Scouts, including the Thanks Badge,
and looks forward to serving and encouraging girls in
the new Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Council.
Nancie Howe Entenmann has been involved in Girl
Scouting for over 60 years, and has progressed from a
girl member to a camper and counselor at Camp Libbey to
Council staff as Membership and Program Director. Nancy
continued as a volunteer on the Council Board Nominating
Committee and Maumee Valley Board President in 1977.
Since then she has worked with ad hoc groups including
Friends, and is presently helping with the Girl Scout
sing-a-longs. Nancie, a lifetime Toledoian, has served
the local area as President for the Children’s Theater
Workshop, Toledo Bar Association Auxiliary and her
Churchs’ Women’s Board. Her other responsibilities
included Officer, Toledo Town Committee National
Society; Colonial Dames of America; Junior League
Committees; Music Docent ( Toledo Museum of Art) and
also a YW swimming instructor. Her other community
involvement includes Citizens for Effective Government (CEG),
Board of Community Relations (BCR), Church Vestry and
American Red Cross. Nancie earned a BA in sociology at
Sweet Briar College. Nancie is on the college alumni
board and recently the Reunion Coordinator for her 50th
reunion. Still in Toledo, she lives in a Retirement
Campus, volunteers on Marketing and Program committees
and also sings with her Old West End Church Choir.
